• To be compliant does not mean that it can be proven. You have to have the records and data to show CBP how you got there.
• EO 14411 took effect on June 3, 2026. Importers now face more rules, must share more about their supply chains, and deal with checks based on risk. Hoping not to get caught now costs more.
• CBP has a more detailed view of your supply chain than you do. If your visibility is limited to tier one, they will be looking at your entry with more information than you possess.
• Start by sorting out the master data. That is, find out what it is, what it's composed of, who created it, and what purpose it serves. All the other aspects depend on these four questions.
• The compliance data is worthwhile in itself. The same records which allow a hold to be lifted are used for sourcing and forecasting as well. By stopping the reactive, last-minute efforts, the team will then be able to carry out that work.
